The Lowellville Safety Committee has created this emergency preparedness sheet to better prepare the residents of Lowellville should a natural disaster or terrorist attack occur.

There are two emergency sirens located in the Village (road dept. building & high school stadium). Testing of these sirens is done on a weekly basis on Saturday’s at noon. The test lasts one minute. In an emergency situation, the sirens will sound for three minutes and residents are asked to check the local media for emergency information.

We also recommend that residents create Emergency Supply Kits. Recommended items include non-perishable food, water, battery powered radio and flashlight with extra batteries, first aid kit, etc. For a complete list of recommend supplies please go to www.ready.ohio.gov. If you do not have access to the internet, this information is available at City Hall.

In the event of a disaster that would require an evacuation emergency, information will be provided through the media.

  • The Lowellville Rod and Gun Club (6225 Quarry Road), The Apartments at Villa Maria (380 Villa Drive, Villa Maria PA), and Victory Christian Center (3899 McCartney Road) have been designated temporary evacuation locations.
  • If you are instructed to evacuate, leave immediately.
  • If you are instructed to “Shelter-in-place”, follow emergency instructions. Stay indoors, close all windows and doors, turn off your HVAC and check local media for additional information.
  • If possible, the fire and police departments will canvas the village using their PA systems and man power going door to do to inform residents if they have to evacuate.
  • If you anticipate needing assistance during a disaster, “create a support network”, talk to family, friends, neighbors, etc. who may be able to assist you evacuating. If further assistance is required, please contact the fire and/or police departments.
